What’s up y’all. Welcome to Da City & Culture Podcast. It’s ya girl Abba Parks and you know what, I’ve been feeling really good lately, something must be in the air cuz usually I’m not a fan of this time of the year.

But I’m telling you something is different this year. Something is coming and it’s going to be good. Like good good, not that cheap kind of good, top shelf good.

It’s like an eerie sense of calm, the dawn finally peeking through the night and bringing light to all that was once covered in darkness; illuminating visions I’ve felt but have yet seen. Are you feeling these vibes too? It’s like the night before a big trip or the moment before you have a first kiss with a new love interest. There’s magic in the air y’all. There’s a shift happening, the world is moving in different direction. The Earth is waking up, people are coming together, and balance is being restored. It’s a new feeling. It’s a beautiful feeling. And it’s definitely something I want more of in my life.

Sometimes we can’t put words to feelings, we just need to sit with them for a while and nothing creates better space for that to happen than music. So this week I want to share the power of music with you.

Music has been a guiding light for me throughout my life and especially now as I navigate these new waters in search of ample land to dock my creativity. I listen to music a lot. It helps to clear my mind and keep me balanced. It helps me stay light when life gets heavy and grounded when I get too dreamy, so I make sure to listen to music that fits my many different moods and I am constantly searching for new music; although I can be known to get stuck listening to certain playlists over and over again.

Music is a beautiful way for me process and express emotion, which can be hard for me to do from time to time and I’m sure y’all can relate to that; so I don’t really need to dissect this topic any further to get y’all to understand where I’m coming from today but I will let you in on a little secret of mine: I’m a trained singer, I sing classical, chamber choir, jazz, and I’ve been known to rap from time to time and recently I have been getting into some freestyle jam sessions which has been so exciting for me but my favourite way to engage with this beautiful element of life is curating playlists.

So this week I’m about to dust off the ole playlist and freshen up your ears with some well crafted playlists for each day of the week with a little added astrological touch.

It’s important to pay attention to what kind of music you’re listening to, how it makes you feel, and what it inspires you to create. Curating playlists for different moods or activities are little ways we can show ourselves love on the daily. I’m excited to dive into my archives, unearth some new gems and dig into hidden crates to see what inspiration will come out of the sounds, frequencies, and vibrations of the musicians that have crafted music for us throughout our time here.

Stepping into the wilds of mother earth with a well crafted playlist is one of my absolute favourite ways to dive into the musical realm. So If you’re brave enough to come along with me for this journey, I invite you to share with me some of your favourite artists, genres, songs, albums and walking paths that help you stay balanced or don’t do you, enjoy the music and I’ll catch you here next week. Same time, same place, until then take it easy and be kind to yourself. Much love.
